Varian's Chin gets its power from consuming lesser chins. Why do you think the defias all wear bandannas and are so angry at Stormwind?

Every night, before they go to sleep, the children of Azeroth check their closets for the Lich King. Every night, before he goes to sleep, the Lich King checks his closet for Varian's chin.

No doubt varian will get alot of stick for warmongering but in his defence the horde happily let the forsaken make a new plague designed to kill the living and behaved well lets say far less than honourably at the broken front

Imagine the Thrall vs Varian fight. Could Thrall get his heal off before getting CHINTERCEPTED?

A warm hearted badass pushed too many times. Ah well. I'pose war is fun too.

Hes like a smaller and peach colored Garrosh

Meh, I don't like him much. Something about his personality just goes against what I like... though watching the Horde go after him for the Achiv is pretty dang funny. Trigger happy 80s for the win

He's a warmongering moron whose entire backstory is in comics meaning most people have no idea who he is. Really he's just a human Garrosh

People may not like him, but we need to take his past into perspective. He was made to be entertainment for the horde AND he was alive during the first wars. Its easy for us players who have never really see such monumental death that goes on in game to want "World of Peacecraft", but if you saw your country, family, friends, etc destroyed by a singular race I'd expect you would hate them too.

And even with this in mind he doesn't react out of context like Garrosh does >_<

Keep in mind that I can be all in favor of a character's place in the lore and still hate the character... good stories need awesome villians as well as heroes. But honestly, while those things are true about Varian Wrynn, Thrall went through rather similar circumstances that were also not his fault. I can't help but feel like listing the things Wrynn has gone through is just supporting the case for thinking Thrall is better.

I initially thought Varian was just a mirror of Garrosh's stupidity, but thinking about events from his view there's a lot of differences between his situation and Thrall's that most people hating on him don't bother taking into account. For one, where Thrall was raised not knowing anything other than the life of a gladiator and slave, Varian was kidnapped subsequently and forced into the situation by Orcs (appearing to him the same Orcs who destroyed his homeland and murdered both of his father-figures). On top of this, Thrall was treated incredibly well for a slave, and had humans who were kind to him (including Blackmoore on occasion - people seem to forget that despite his general assholeishness he was nice to Thrall when Thrall won him lots of money). Varian, by comparison, was pushed to his limit and forced to risk his life constantly in exchange for nothing. His wounds weren't tended to, and he was given no incentive to keep at it aside from 'you'll die if you don't'.

The clincher for me was seeing Varian's behaviour in the ICC raid. Apparently Horde don't get to see this, which is a shame, but how he acts in reponse to Saurfang made him really stand out to me as a character who has a sense of honor and will stick to doing what is right for his people foremost, and all others when possible.

Chin? Cool!
But he is pretty much a Human version of Garrosh ¬¬
